Breast Lift

Sagging breasts can be reshaped and resized to reverse the signs of aging!

Breast lift surgery is used to reshape one or both breasts, resulting in a higher position on the chest and a more beautiful contour.

The decision-making process that leads a woman to consider breast lift surgery is as individual as she is.

A breast lift can be performed to correct a variety of issues that women find bothersome. Women of all ages seek breast lift surgery for breasts that are small, large, or somewhere in between.

This guide provides a general overview of the breast lift process and what you can expect.

Why Women Choose Breast Lift Surgery

Women who undergo breast lift surgery have described their desire for perkier breasts, more youthful breasts, or lifted breasts.

Women may use terms such as saggy, droopy, deflated, or loose to describe the breast tissue that prompts them to explore a breast lift. In some cases, one or both nipples point downward or appear to be “too low” on the breast.

The development of your breast shape and position over time depends on many things, such as skin elasticity, body shape, age, breast size, history of pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, and/or menopausal status. This is all combined with the effects of gravity and lifestyle factors such as smoking.

If you are looking to change the shape of your breasts with a breast lift, you are among a group of tens of thousands of women who do so each year. Breast lifts are now overtaking breast augmentations, although the total number of augmentations performed remains higher.

Breast lifts are one of the most common plastic surgeries women opt for – and one of the most successful – with a high postoperative satisfaction rate.

Preparation and research

Women who actively research breast lift and decide to follow instructions for a healthy recovery usually experience the best breast lift results.

It is often helpful to find a surgeon in Thailand who will take the time to explain the breast lift procedure to you and answer all of your questions thoroughly.

Questions to ask your plastic surgeon:

  • Are you certified by the Thailand Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the Thai Society of Plastic Surgeons?
  • How many breast surgeries have you performed?
  • Can you describe the surgical procedure that is indicated in my case?
  • Where will my incisions be located? There are several methods of performing a breast lift. The location of the incisions will depend largely on the current size and shape of your breasts. Your surgeon can assist you in making this decision. The three most common incision locations are:
    • Around the areola. This incision is used when very little skin is to be removed.
    • Around the areola and then vertically down toward the breast crease.
    • Around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease and then horizontally along the breast crease at the very bottom of the breast. The fewer incisions made, the less scarring there will be.
  • Are my goals feasible? Tip: Dedicated plastic surgeons want to make sure you get the best result. This includes making sure you are a good candidate for a breast lift. Your surgeon will base this decision on a combination of factors, including your overall health, age, expectations, and more. Talk to your surgeon about your future plans, such as significant weight loss or whether you plan to have children. Depending on your situation, your surgeon may suggest waiting to perform your breast lift.
  • Where will the surgery take place, and is the surgical facility accredited?
  • What type of anesthesia is recommended? Who will perform the anesthesia, and what qualifications does he or she have?

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Did the surgeon take time to explain the breast lift to my satisfaction? Tip: Choose a plastic surgeon who will give you his or her full attention and ask you questions about your goals for your breast lift.
  • Do I feel rushed or taken advantage of? Tip: If you feel comfortable and not rushed, it’s a sign that your surgeon is invested in your outcome and sees you as a unique individual, not just another “case.”
  • Was the cost explained to me? Tip: Remember that the total cost of your procedure should be disclosed. Some of the variables that affect the price include the surgeon’s and anesthesiologist’s fees (depending on experience and qualifications), pre-and post-surgery testing, operating room costs, the type of anesthesia required, and the complexity of the procedure. Don’t sacrifice your peace of mind for a “bargain” price when it comes to your health.
  • Do I feel comfortable with this surgeon? Tip: Ultimately, you need to choose a surgeon you feel is trustworthy and has earned your trust.

Breast Lift Procedure Overview

Breast lift surgery is usually performed as an inpatient procedure at an accredited surgery center. The patient is placed under general anesthesia or sedation and local anesthesia.

During breast lift surgery, incisions are made, and excess skin is removed to tighten the breast, which is then repositioned to a new, higher position. The nipple is typically repositioned, and the areola is sometimes reduced in size.

A breast lift takes only a few hours, and recovery is one of the least complicated cosmetic surgery procedures.

Your surgeon’s experience and skill will allow him or her to weigh a number of important considerations for a successful outcome. The best surgeons strive to:

  • Create an appealing overall breast shape that fits your figure and the goals discussed prior to surgery.
  • To create firmer and higher breasts with natural-looking symmetry and nipple position.
  • Carefully planning the location of incisions and their length to minimize the appearance of scars.
  • The complexity of the procedure and the amount of skin to be removed will affect the length of the incisions.
  • Use advanced techniques to preserve nipple sensation and breastfeeding ability.
  • Reshape the underlying breast tissue to extend the longevity of the breast lift.

Breast Lift Recovery and risks

Breast lift is performed on the skin, no muscles are involved, so healing is relatively quick. Scars are usually visible for up to a year after the breast lift, after which they often fade to thin white lines.

The scars are permanent and remain visible up close when you are not clothed. Your surgeon will place the incisions for the breast lift so that the scars are not visible under clothing, even with a low-cut garment.

With any surgical procedure, there is some risk of complications or an adverse reaction to anesthesia. Bleeding and infection are rare with a breast lift but can increase scarring.

The surgical risk is reduced if you follow your surgeon’s advice carefully both before and after the breast lift and during the recovery period.

You will achieve the best results if you stay in close contact with your surgeon. Call your surgeon with any questions at any point during the process, and don’t skip any follow-up appointments.

The new position and shape of your breasts will be visible immediately after surgery, although the new look will change slightly over the next few weeks as swelling subsides.

Is a breast lift right for you?

The vast majority of patients who undergo breast lift surgery report that their goals were met and are very satisfied with the results. Women who research the procedure in advance and make an informed decision tend to report the highest satisfaction.

These women often describe feeling better about their appearance and more confident after the breast lift.

Of course, you can only be sure that a breast lift is right for you if you consult with an experienced plastic surgeon at Lelux Hospital. At Lelux Hospital, we are here to help you. Because we know that not everyone is a good candidate for the procedure, our consultation with you is free.

Our goal is to provide you with information and expert advice so you can make the best decision. Breast Lift Surgery Results

The results of the surgery are immediate, although the shape will continue to change and firm up over the coming months.

The results of breast lift surgery are not permanent. Your skin naturally becomes less elastic, and sagging may occur as you age. This happens more quickly if you have large, heavy breasts.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will certainly delay the inevitable results of aging.
